Abstract

This work aims to characterize the type of cup-hilt sword by establishing its geographical and temporal framework, as well as defining the basic characteristics that allow assessing its manageability based on the study and measurement of historical pieces. For this reason, written pictorial sources and museum pieces have been examined, resulting in a compilation of useful information for future studies of this type of white weapon, and also for the creation of reliable replicas to be used in historical fencing.
